Maybe this also leads to confidence with their newest project, Parakacuk, a beat em up game set up in a high school. IGN Southeast Asia even considered its premise as the Bully (game by Rockstar) of Indonesia. Either IGN just click baited its article title or they are not researched enough about the material, it is then become something we can all disagree.
On February 2021, Gamecom released the demo of Parakacuk with the hope of appreciation and good feedback to them. But then the same media that praised their work before, criticized Parakacuk and even tells them to postpone the release of the game. With the huge name of The Lazy Monday, lots of people then agree with it.
Maybe you'll ask, what's wrong with Parakacuk and their demo? Well, there's a lot of mistakes in their marketing and fund management. Firstly, they got too confident with the success of A Day Without Me. Yes, the game is good and gets them some money for their next project, but for an ambitious genre that no local developer ever dares to create, it is something that needs to think of and it better to take a step with Kickstarter fundraising. One of the developer team tells in the comment section that their game needs to be released as soon as possible due to the lack of money and sponsorship.
Secondly, the game itself is imbalanced in every aspect. They might get many inspirations from Metal Gear Rising or Devil May Cry with its mechanic, but they all just become a mess. To call it a demo, it is clearly too soon, the developer should've released it as alpha, instead of a rushed demo.
To have a good ambition is a good thing, but also put it in a full realization of what surrounded is totally necessary. The game industry in Indonesia is not something that is big enough and many people considered it as a myth. With the failed demo release of Parakacuk, indie developers should learn from it and try to not do the same mistake.
